Life is Full and Running Over

Well, our weather is  beautiful here in North Texas for 3 days and cold again for 2, but I can tell that spring is here and summer is right around the corner.  I'd love to tell you I'm spending all my time doing things like going to concerts in the park.

And eating things like this (everyday)

It just isn't so

Now that I finished baby quilt #1, I got right to work on #2

And while that's a fun project and the view is nice from my sewing desk (I can't see the weeds that need pulled from up here)

It's still INDOORS - not my favorite when the weather is beautiful.  This is all the "spring" decor I managed when I put away the Easter decorations.  Just the entry table, no mantle decorations, nothing else.  I'm just waiting for time to put out all my summer decorations, they are my favorite anyway.

I wake up every morning to this
this look means, "GET UP AND FEED ME, NOWWW"

And my week looks like this

And we are working on another project that looks something like this -
or it looked like this BEFORE we made a big mess.

I spent the weekend climbing up and down this ladder PLUS this bathroom is upstairs so I was going up and down the stairs a dozen times a day (at least).  My legs are so sore - I never get that kind of a workout at the gym.  Also, my legs are covered with bruises.  So I am bruised AND sore.  I think after this project we take a long break and relax poolside for a while few months.

Much love and laughter (and a little moaning and groaning),
Laura

Puppy Love Quilt For the Next Generation

First of all - I have not dropped off the face of the Earth.  I hope you are happy to hear that.  Spring is the busiest time of the year for me at my 40 hour/week job.  You know, the one that pays $$.  Spring is ALWAYS a busy time around our house at my FULL time job, the one that pays no $$ but has the best rewards and fringe benefits.  It gets hot in Texas by June. (usually, who knows this year) So our rule is that all projects need to be done by June and we'll resume in October after the weather cools down again. I'm not saying that is what happens, just that we have that rule, or maybe it's more of a guideline.

I gave you a sneak peak of the quilt I was making for my son's baby (due in June).  It is now finished and I am working on the quilt for my daughter's baby (due in July).  Also, we've got a messy home project going, as usual, so blogging has been on the list of stuff to do that keeps getting pushed forward another day and then another day.  Siri is great, but she keeps reminding me of stuff I'm supposed to be doing every time I tried to relax.

My mother-in-law made quilts for all of my children when they were born and Puppy Love is the pattern she used for the first one.  You can still buy these precious patterns from The Gingham Goose.  That's pretty incredible considering we didn't even have the Internet when the first quilt was made.

You can see the quilt Grandma Bev made for my oldest daughter on a previous post about passing down baby stuff to my baby here.  My son had the Cuddle Cat quilt, pattern also available from The Gingham Goose.

It turned out beautiful, NOT PERFECT, but beautiful and I know Ellanore will love it. Because she's going to be precious too.  I hadn't sewn a quilt in 20 years, so I re-learned a few things along the way.  I also bought a new sewing machine and some fancy new sewing tools. (I learned the new tool thing from SuperDave, all projects require new tools)

At a recent Baby Shower I got a picture of my three girls.  My first born on the left, my baby in the middle and my most recently acquired daughter on the right.  My son did good.  Now we have two more girls on the way!  I hope the boys in the family are ready for this, they will be outnumbered 6 to 3!

The Mom To Be approved!

I'm happily running around like crazy in several directions.  I need to get all my stuff done so I can love on babies all summer!  But I think I'll take tonight off now that I'm home and relax for a few hours.  I need a little time off.

Much love and laughter,

Laura

Puppy Quilt Sneak Peek

The first of my two grand daughters will be born in two months.  The first baby shower is this weekend.  Here is a sneak peak at what I've been doing instead of blogging.

I'll reveal it fully next week, after I give it to the expectant Mom.

Now...back to the sewing room!

Happy trails to you,

Laura
