Keeping it Real In The New Year

I finally fired up the computer and started to read a few blogs, but I was finding it sort of discouraging.  Other people seemed to be WAY more ambitious than me, they are making  project plans or resolutions and putting away all the Christmas decorations.

But then I stopped myself and reflected on what I HAVE done the past few days.

Saturday - We drove about 400 miles and had a Christmas celebration with 36 members of my family in one medium size house. Oh the (joyful) noise! We were missing only 3 family members.  When my grandbabies arrive in 2013 if everyone shows I think there will be 41 of us (if I counted correctly).  This includes my parents, their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren along with the spouses.

Sunday - We took two of our nieces to the airport and put them on a plane for home, then made a trip to Costco.  I watched a movie snuggled under a blanket with my sweetie.

Monday - We worked most of the day at our paying jobs and then had friends over to help up celebrate the end of 2012 and the beginning of a fresh new year.  I also watched part of a Bon Jovi concert DVD I bought myself for the new year.  SuperDave and Chewie joined me.  That cat has good taste in music and he's warm.

Tuesday - We went to bed at 2:30 AM after our New Year's Party.  No party pictures - what happens on New Year's Eve......

I slept a full 8 hours and then had 2 cups of coffee in bed before I got my day going (I'm really too old for this, but not ready to admit it).  At 2:30 PM we had an impromptu lunch which we planned with our neighbors during the party the night before (or earlier that morning, I don't remember for sure).

The menu included Smoked Pork Ribs, Creamy Au Gratin Potatoes, Black-eyed Peas, Green Beans Gremolata and a Tossed Green Salad along with an assortment of decadent desserts.  It was yummy and the company was great. I ate too much AGAIN. After a while we dragged ourselves back across the alley and cleaned up from the night before. I did a few necessary household tasks and then read a book before falling asleep.

I also changed out the calendar.  I love a clean crisp calendar - but now it is time to write in the appointments for the months ahead and start marking off the days.

I didn't even start putting the Christmas decorations back in storage, but I will very soon.  (why can't they just magically jump back into all those storage boxes?)

I DO have a lot of plans for this new year, it might be time to start a list.  It's going to be a great year and I resolve to LIVE every day of 2013 to the fullest giving God, family and friends the highest priority.

Time to get moving, I suppose,

Laura

I'm laughing because that is exactly how I feel! My husband and I were both off between Christmas and New Years. It was just awesome at times to lay together and watch movies in front of the fire. I did start taking down the tree so only the tree and lights are still there!

Love it that you are like me and want to do something on New Years Eve but always feel it the next day!

Love Bon Jovi, too!

I'm not as productive as these other blogger gals but we have to remember we have full time jobs outside of our home & blog that must come first!

Wishing you an awesome 2013!

Sounds like you've had some fun! I took down the decorations a couple of days after Christmas. I was over it! Lol! I think we had movie marathons every night! We rang in the New Year with our girls; and left for a late night breakfast with friends. We returned home around 5 a.m.; and I stayed in bed until 2 p.m. LOL!!! Yesterday was a lazy day in PJ's!

I know I should be making something to write about but I'm still taking down Christmas. I'm doing a purge so the 'keepers' are piled on my couch. I tell myself I'm doing my readers a favour by not being overly efficient at this time of year! lol
