Things I Love About Christmas

I love Christmas.
I could probably make a list that would go on all day,
but you would get bored and leave, so I'll just share a few.

I LOVE

#1  Christmas Music

#2  The Christmas Tree(s)

#3  My ornaments - a box of memories

#4  Christmas Cookies - well, almost any kind of cookie really

#5  Wassail (I'll share the Sanders family recipe)

#6  Family Gatherings

#7  Christmas Movies (and Jimmy Stewart)

#8  The World's Focus on The Birth of Christ
(even if some of it is unintentional)

#9  Christmas Cards - I still love getting snail mail

#10 You can put a Santa hat and a ribbon on anything and get away with it

or anyone

Did you notice I didn't mention gifts?  I'm no Scrooge, but it's not about gifts for me.  I love to give them, but without one material gift given or received in my house - it would still be Christmas and it would still be special.  Because the Greatest Gift has already been given.

What about you?  What do you LOVE about the Christmas Season?

Celebrate!

Freeloaders

So while SuperDave and I get up on these cold fall mornings, before daylight, and drag ourselves off to our respective places of employment this is what is going on at home.

I want to snuggle in bed all day too!  No fair!

May the force be with you,

Count Down to Christmas with Snoopy

My house looks like a Christmas decor store exploded inside it.  It's not a GOOD thing.  But give me another week and it will be beautiful I'm sure and I'll share the lovliness very soon.

We had family gatherings from Thursday through Saturday last week, then church and an errand on Sunday. Which left me a few hours last weekend to start my Christmas decorating.  I'm not one of those people who puts up a little tree in an hour and smiles and sits down with book and a drink. Noooo, I'm one of those people with boxes and boxes of decorations for every room in the house.

My BIG living room tree takes 4 to 5 hours to decorate. I'm about half way done with it, I've gotten to the point of being ready for ornaments. And of course a lot of those ornaments are in individual boxes to keep them nice so most of the time left is just getting them out of the boxes!

After 33 years of Christmas trees we have a LOT of ornaments.  But even my sweetie, SuperDave, loves the house being decorating for Christmas.  He got all those boxes out of my attic and has been helping as much as he can so that in the couple of hours I have after work in the evening I can s-l-o-w-l-y get order restored to our home.  (I wish some elves would come along and it would magically be done when I get home tonight) haha

We did get our priorities right this year though.  Our first Christmas decorations to go up was Snoopy.

I picked up Snoopy a few years ago for cheap on our SwapMeet at work (like craigslist sort of, but just for our employees).  He's become a favorite very quickly - not just for my family - but with our neighbors. If we don't get him out right away, people start asking for him.  Kinda like Frosty in the Christmas with the Kranks, I could SO go for a cruise instead of having all the Christmas foofaraw one year.  But NOT this year!

So Snoopy is out in the yard counting down the days, hours, minutes and seconds - 26 days to go - because this photo was taken yesterday!

Ho, Ho, Ho,

Laura
