Entryway at Christmas

For the first two weeks after Thanksgiving I came home from work every day to this....

A week before Christmas, I am thankful that my decorating, shopping and wrapping is done. HALLELUJAH!  Because we are having one family celebration on Saturday - 5 days from now.

It's time to relax, enjoy Christmas, count our blessings and hug our family!

It's time to watch movies and spend time with family and friends!

It's time to take pictures and share them with family and friends!

Do you sense a theme?  Christmas is about two things - the Birth of Christ and people you love.  A lot like life, I guess, just bigger and shinier this time of year.

Here's a little tour of the entryway.

I shared earlier the stable my Dad built with scraps in this workshop (just like Santa).  It sits on the table in our entryway so it's the first thing you see when you walk through the front door.

This is the first house I've owned with a banister to decorate. yeah! Although I'm not crazy about the oak and white paint color scheme, I do love decorating it for Christmas.  I saw fresh roses used for a big Christmas party in a magazine a few years ago.  Fresh roses aren't going to work for me, so I bought silk and glittered them up.

We like to put our collection on Christmas toys on the stairs for kids to play with when friends stop by for a visit.  Also, my grand dog, Willie, had a fun time carrying them around the house.

I find it very difficult to get a good pictures of the garland on the banister, but I gave it a shot.  I never feel like pictures do it justice.

We put the baby girl's crazy purple tinsel tree on the stair landing this year. I wasn't sure how she would feel about that, but she likes it here. It's one of about a dozen trees throughout our home.

Some people have reindeer, we have giraffes impersonating reindeer.

'Tis the Season!

Peace, Hope and Joy to all of you this blessed season of the year,

Laura

Laura, your entryway is beautiful! I love the toys on the staircase...I used to do that when my kids were small. In fact, I think we still have a couple of the teddy bears that you have! The banister looks pretty, too! Love the red roses!

That's a lot of garland on that banister! As pretty as everything else is, I think the stable you dad made is my favourite.
