Master Bedroom Makeover Project - I Bought a Bed!

When I started THE MASTER BEDROOM MAKEOVER PROJECT I had not intended to buy a bed.  It's not that I didn't want a bed.  I've always planned to buy a poster bed someday.  But a nice one can be very expensive - unless you find a bargain.  We had a nice headboard that we bought 5 or 6 years ago.  And my plan was always that when I bought my bed - someday - that headboard would go to a guest room bed.

The 'problem' is craigslist.  You start shopping on there you find all sorts of stuff you didn't even think of looking for in the first place.

And that's how I found a lovely very substantial Broyhill four poster bed - with pineapples.  I'm not sure what it is about them, but I think carved poster beds are better with pineapples.  Maybe because I'm such a tropical gal at heart.  Also, this medium color is a much better match for the pieces of furniture I've been collecting than most of the poster beds I see for sale.

My dear husband, SuperDave, came to the rescue once again and hauled this bed home and put it together for me.  He said he could always count on me to keep his life interesting.  Is that a compliment?

This is how we got it home.  I knew it was big, but when we saw it up close and personal - it was wow!  Is that going to fit in our truck?

We managed to get it home and set up with no problem. Best of all no work or painting was needed so we put it in our room the day it came home. (instead of waiting for weeks for repairs and painting like the other pieces).  It's in great shape and the cost was very VERY low for a beautiful bed of this quality.  I'm still going to come in on budget thanks to all my sales of old furniture and misc items on craigslist.

I'm continuing to work on the other pieces and when they are done I'll show you how beautiful this bed looks in my room. And I'll also reveal the gorgeous pineapples that are under the pads in this picture.

Sweet dreams,

Laura

Wow, that's quite a find! I haven't had much luck on Craigs List, probably because I'm nervous about going to a stranger's house. I have to leave hubby out of these things- the less he has to do, the more willing he is to let me do what I want. :)
