Don't know what Top Secret contents had been stored in this drawer, they were long gone |
I love all the blue pieces I have seen around the web so I went with a (homemade) blue chalk paint.
The top drawer has nice curvy lines |
The tops of the dresser and desk are laminate so I thought I would try applying fabric on top. My fabric actually shrunk. Nothing I read suggested this would happen, so next time around I will leave excess on the back and side and trim it after applying the Mod Podge (before it dries.)
Apparently, it smells interesting to Chewie |
The fabric on top looks pretty cool and I think I'll do a better job with the second piece.
Live and Learn!
It was a good piece to experiment on and it looks pretty decent now and will provide good storage for sewing supplies and fabric. The handles were white and silver and I left them for now, but I think they would be rather striking painted black.
Finishing the mathcing desk is on my (endless) list of projects.
Maybe tomorrow? Or the day after?

It's a very pretty dresser, now! Love the fun fabric, too. ~ Maureen
I've never had fabric shrink. Usually when I work with it, I am just starching it to something so it stretches instead.
Hmm...
The finished project is really wonderful, though! I love the bones of the piece, and it's beautiful in blue.
Okay--let me tell you how much I LOVE this fabric! It is AWESOME!
It looks great, love the color and the fabric!

The color is so pretty. I just bought a dresser from salvation army and I am leaning towards a color like this. Never thought about fabric on the top. Great idea!
What a darling dresser! I saw your feature over at Refresh Restyle and had to come by and see more of it. The fabric is just perfect! :-)

Thanks everyone! What an honor!
Love the color you chose....have never heard of fabric shrinking - interesting but, love the idea of using it on the top.
Love it. I must mod Podge a top of one of these laminate top pieces I have!
