I'm Under The Influence

It's true - I'm under the influence.....of all you wonderful bloggers out there.
Maybe we should call it Inspiration, that probably sounds better.

I decorate my home for Christmas.  I set out all my little Easter decorations in the Spring.  I put out the pumpkins in the Fall.  I hang decorations for each season on my front door and change out the flag on the front porch.  That has been pretty much it - until now.  Now I'm looking at the changing seasonal mantle displays and side tables and THINKING - oh, yeah, thinking, dangerous stuff.

I am a beach kind of gal at heart. I have a collection throughout the house of wonderful beach stuff and what says summer more than sand and seashells? So I'm going to pull a few things together for a little summer decorating project which will make me smile (and miss the beach.)

I started with table in the entry hall.  Total time - 10 minutes or less - including the pictures I snapped quickly with my mobile phone to post. I need to take pics with the Nikon - yep for sure.

So far I gathered up a few things from around the house including -

a sunset picture I took in Key West, I had framed it and glued seashells to the frame,
two jars of sand and shells from beach combing, (I do this after each trip, so I have a few jars full)
a conch shell we bought in Jamaica from a couple who had made soup from the conch, (she sells seashells)
some coral and shells collected by my father-in-law 50 years ago when he was stationed in Hawaii,

a piece of coral we found on the beach in Jamaica,
a photo of my daughter I took last summer in Florida

I really want to sprinkle sand on this table, but I'm sure when I'm off to work there will be two tabby kitties investigating the new display. Sand combined with cats probably equals a mess.

Over the weekend I'm moving on to the mantle and the bookcase in the kitchen!

Much Love & Laughter,

Laura

Now, I'm under the influence of a forty something blogger who has set a pretty beach vignette. I do believe I'm going to be scouring for beachy stuff now.

I'm just like you in that I have been greatly inspired (and I think improved) by blog land!
