Leapin' Lizards!

I completed two small paint projects recently.  I haven't spray painted in a while, I forgot how messy it I can get with spray paint.

This first one is a coal scuttle given to me from Mom's stash of stuff in the shed.
Thanks, Mom!
It looked like this when I brought it home.  Not sure when or why Mom painted it gold.

I took it outside and started spray painting it back to original black.

It took a few coats and spraying INSIDE of a bucket is challenging.
I'm thinking a brush might have been easier because this old bucket has a lot of detail.

But it's looking pretty good now

Look inside the bucket. My Dad cut a circle of cedar for the bottom of the bucket.  This thing is SO old and well used that it has a hole all the way through the bottom.  But the cedar covers it up quite nicely.  Thanks, Dad!

I think this spot by the fireplace will be it's new home (for now) I'm trying to decide what should go inside.  Magazines?  Books?  Flowers?  Magnolia cuttings? Lumps of coal?

The other paint project is a little touch of up of a previous project.  I bought this stepping stone because it had a cool little 3-D lizard on top.  I attached it to the top of a small metal table for a bit of whimsy on the patio.

We used epoxy to attach wire to the stone and fastened the wires through the top of the table. How you attach the stone would depend on the type of top on your table.  I'm thinking liquid nails might work if the top of the table is solid.

The stone was all one color - green. All the little kids think it is a real lizard.  So I decided to define the lizard and plant with a little paint to make them look even more real.

Now even adults may think there is a lizard on the table.
Our cat, Chewie, had to give it a really close inspection.

I hope it doesn't scare anyone.  Lizards are not scary, they're cute.

Much Love & Laughter,

Laura

Although not everyone has a gold coal scuttle, I think you made the right choice in returning it to black. lol The lizard top on the little table is ingenious! ~ Maureen

Black is great for these buckets. I have one that needs a new coat of paint. Pinecones are one of my favorite fillers. It looks nice on your hearth.
